Back in 2002, d20 Modern helped to breathe life into third edition Dungeons & Dragons, expanding the tabletop role-playing game into a far more contemporary setting — less swords and sorcery, more ninjas and automatic weapons. 20 years ago, Bill Slavisek, Jeff Grubb, Rich Redman, and Charles Ryan produced d20 Modern for Wizards of the Coast. The official core book took the D&D 3/3.5 rules and applied them to contemporary settings.

I confess to never having played d20 modern, and in reading around this I found it was based on D&D 3.5, and I have never played that either. I think it’s really cool that someone is bringing it back and converting it to the Fifth Edition SRD chassis for maximum audience.
